Summary
The 23rd President of the United States and the principal antagonist of Steel Ball Run, and the man who set the transcontinental race in motion in the first place. He follows it from behind the curtain, intent on assembling the Saint's Corpse and turning the Holy Relic toward American interests and American power; his own phrase for the method is "taking the first napkin." Patriotism matters enormously to him, and his concern for his country appears genuine. Little of what he does is done for himself: it serves what he understands to be America's strength, and the goal of making America the dominant nation on earth.
