Privacy Policy

This policy explains how CosCat ("we", "us") collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information when you use coscat.com and its related services (the "Service").

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account information: your email address, username and interface language preference, and your phone number if you sign up or log in with one. We store your password only as a cryptographic hash.
  • Content you post: ratings, reviews, comments and profile information. Your public profile and anything you post publicly can be seen by any visitor.
  • Anything you send us through our Contact page.

Information we collect automatically

  • The IP address you signed up from, and when you agreed to our Terms of Service and this policy, and which versions.
  • Usage: our own analytics tool records page views and actions on the Service (for example, rating a title or writing a review) so we can understand and improve the Service. Where Google Analytics is enabled, it collects similar usage data.
  • Technical information: IP address, browser type and access times. We use your IP address to estimate your country or region and pick an interface language. This happens on our own servers; we do not send your IP address to a third party for it.

2. Cookies

We use these cookies:

  • NEXT_LOCALE remembers the interface language you chose;
  • payload-token keeps you logged in.

Where Google Analytics is enabled, Google sets cookies for analytics. In phone-number sign-up and login, Cloudflare Turnstile may use cookies or similar technologies to tell humans from bots. You can clear or block cookies in your browser, but some features, such as staying logged in, may then stop working.

3. How we use information

  • to provide and run the Service, including sign-up, login and showing the content you post;
  • to send service emails such as verification and password resets (and text messages, if you use a phone number);
  • to keep accounts and the Service secure and to prevent abuse and fraud;
  • to measure and analyze usage and improve the Service;
  • to meet legal obligations and respond to your requests.

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:

  • with service providers that process data on our behalf: server hosting (Vultr), email delivery (Resend), bot protection (Cloudflare Turnstile, where used) and website analytics (Google Analytics, where enabled). They may process the data only on our instructions;
  • when required by law, regulation, legal process or a government request, or to protect the rights and safety of us, our users or the public;
  • in a merger, acquisition or asset transfer, in which case we will require the recipient to keep honoring this policy.

5. International transfers

Our servers are hosted by a third-party cloud provider and may be located outside your country or region. Your information may be transferred to and processed in those places, and we take reasonable measures to protect it there.

6. How long we keep information

We keep your account information and the content you post for as long as your account exists. After you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where the law requires us to keep it or we need it to resolve disputes.

7. Your rights

You can view and correct your profile in your account settings. To get a copy of your personal information, delete your account and personal information, or object to how we process it, please contact us at https://coscat.com/contact. We will act on your request as soon as we have verified your identity. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

8. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, or under a higher age where your local law sets one. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have, we will delete it promptly.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. For example, the whole site uses HTTPS, and passwords are stored only as hashes. No transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, however.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a new effective date and version number, and give notice on the Service of any significant changes.
